THE SEASON'S ORACLE

The Moon is the Mirror of the Goddess

Friends in the Garden Full Moon

The feminine spiritual message is perpetually revealed by the turning of the seasons, and, above all, we see our own experience of transitions and changes mimed by the moon's monthly orbit. Like the faces of the moon, women's own cycles, moods, and roles pantomime the ever-changing Essence of female sexual and spiritual power   The Mother-god's most important lesson is that Divinity exists in everything and all life is sacred and erotic. Her lessons are shown in circles, cycles, spirals, webs, and wheels. These symbols of turning, holding, connecting, enfolding, embracing, and returning are all metaphors for Life in the Feminine Way.

THIS IS THE SEASON OF
LUGHNASA = FIRST HARVEST
and
THE COMPANION ARCHETYPE

The season begins on AUGUST 2, and ends SEPTEMBER 21. It is symbolized by the SIXTH moon-phase, the DISSEMINATING moon.

~ DISSEMINATING MOON ~ LUGHNASA ~
Rising shortly after the sun has gone down, the disseminating moon remains strong in light, but slightly misshapen-- gradually veiling her face, deflecting her light. Just so, the Companion Archetype deflates her own importance in order to lend a portion of her power to something outside of herself. This is a phase in which we share our gifts, disseminate our knowledge, and pass the wealth around. It is a time for generating inter-relationships; for telling our stories to help each other grow and co-create a viable, sustainable, productive life.

LAMMAS: (August 2) Summer’s end. This is the season of fruitfulness and fertility. It is the time for festivals of First Fruits Harvest-- a time of abundance and prosperity. Now we open our hearts to share with others and to give thanks for the riches and blessings provided us by the earth in return for our labor.
